During the study of the aphid fauna of Iran, numerous aphid samples associated with plants from the Lamiaceae family were collected and identified. A total of 20 aphid species from 12 genera were found across 15 host plant species. An Ovatus species on Mentha longifolia (L.) Huds. displayed intermediate biometric traits between O. mentharius (van der Goot) and O. archangelskajae Kadyrbekov, and this led to the conclusion that O. archangelskajae is a geographical variant of O. mentharius, thus synonymized with it. The specimen data published here are those used and described by Mehrparvar et al. (2024).
The data for 161 microscopic slides containing 385 specimens are presented in this paper. The specimens are deposited in the Aphid Collection of Aphidology Research Group (ARGAC), Institute of Science and High Technology and Environmental Sciences, Graduate University of Advanced Technology (KGUT), Kerman, Iran. Specimen data are available at: https://data.canadensys.net/micropublications/resource?r=collection_5.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Colin Favret of the Université de Montréal for his invaluable help and guidance during the preparation of this manuscript. His insightful feedback and support greatly enhanced the quality of this work.
