Description

Qiao jinshaensis Hébert et al. 2022 is a species of gall-inducing aphid of the tribe Fordini found exclusively on Rhus wilsonii Hemsl., itself a geographically restricted plant species found only in a few scattered localities along the Jinsha River of Yunnan, China. The genus and species were first described by Hébert et al. (2022) (Fig. 1) as being both morphologically and genetically distinct from all close relatives, although the gall (Fig. 2) resembles that of species of Nurudea.

Material

The holotype (Fig. 1, 3) and two paratypes are deposited at the Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing (IOZ(E)), and 11 paratypes are deposited at the Ouellet-Robert Entomological Collection of the University of Montreal (QMOR).
